Harraby Community Campus Official Opening

Harraby Campus

On Wednesday members of the media are invited to the official opening which will begin in the school’s theatre at 11am.

The Harraby Community Campus scheme has been funded by around £12 million of investment from Cumbria County Council and £1.6 million from Carlisle City Council. The campus includes a new building for Pennine Way School, a brand new community centre including cafĂ©, library link, meeting space, soft play, children’s centre resources and high quality sports facilities which will all benefit the local community.

Councillor Stewart Young, Leader of Cumbria County Council, said:

“This is a proud moment for Carlisle and a great example of partnership working.

“The project has been shaped by the local community from the start with the Harraby Together We Can Initiative, the school and community centre all contributing their thoughts and ideas. It shows what can be achieved when everyone works together with a common aim.

“The new campus is now ready to deliver first-class facilities for the people of South Carlisle and beyond.”

Councillor Colin Glover, Leader of Carlisle City Council, said:

“I am delighted that Carlisle City Council has been able to work with our partners to deliver new, modern and high quality community facilities for people in Harraby and the surrounding area.

“This is the culmination of a lot of hard work by many people and shows what great things can be achieved when we have a shared vision and work together.

“A special thanks to the local residents and Harraby Together We Can; their enthusiasm and energy has been invaluable and we look forward to Harraby Community Campus going from strength to strength.”

The Harraby Community Campus, a multi-million pound school and community hub in Carlisle is set to be officially opened on Wednesday 25 May 2016.
