Junction improvements in Workington
Works are planned to alter the junction arrangement at the junction of Vulcan’s Lane with Harrington Road, in Workington later this month.
Cumbria County Council will be carrying out these improvements as part of a wider scheme to enhance road safety and reduce traffic collisions in the area.
The introduction of a mini-roundabout, rather than a standard ‘T’ junction will also assist in reducing vehicle speeds along the B5292 Harrington Road as drivers will need to slow from each approaching direction to give way.
As part of the scheme, road signage and street lighting will also be improved. The lighting and signing works will be carried out at the end of May, with a one-day road closure on Friday 1 June to allow the final connections and road markings to be completed.
