Three days left to have your say on new fitness trail for Harraby

Plans for a new fitness trail in the heart of Harraby are on display until the end of the week.

Local residents can choose between two design options for the fitness trail, which will be located at Harraby Campus.  The plans are on display in the community cafĂ© until 5pm on Friday 7 December.

Harraby Community Centre and the Harraby ‘Together We Can’ community action group have raised an impressive £31,422 through fundraising to develop a community fitness trail at the Harraby Campus site, with support from Cumbria County Council’s Community Development team.  The design options can also be viewed online via the group’s Facebook page - just search for ‘Harraby Together We Can.’

The 1km circuit will be free to use and accessible for families and local residents to get fit together.   The group has been supported to apply for a variety of funding, successfully securing grants from Cumbria County Council, Awards For All, Cumbria Community Foundation and Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL).

There is also an evening drop-in session on Wednesday 5 December between 5-7pm, with members of the planning group available to answer any questions.

Anne Dalton, Chair of the Harraby ‘Together We Can’ group said:

“The new fitness trail will enhance the facilities at Harraby Campus for the local community to enjoy.  The 1km route could be included in everyone’s fitness routine and help tackle obesity.  Harraby residents have been involved in developing the plans for the new equipment, which should be in place by the end of March 2019. We’re very excited and grateful to everyone who has helped to raise funds for this important community asset!”

If anyone has any questions or would like to discuss the trail, please get in touch with Harraby Community Centre on 01228 537831.
