Cumbria County Council apprentices, based in Carlisle, have raised £603 for the Chairman's chosen charities, Carlisle Mencap and People First, following two successful cake sales.
County council employees, based at the Cumbria House and Parkhouse buildings in Carlisle, were tempted by the delicious homemade cakes and gave generously.
Christine Bowditch, Chairman of Cumbria County Council, said:
"I'm really proud of our apprentices for taking the time to organise this week's cake sales and thank you to everyone who contributed to raise money for my chosen charities.
"It is always wonderful to see people wanting to make a difference for those with Autism and Learning Disabilities. What they’re doing will help and enable those to do better with their lives."
Carlisle Mencap support adults and children with respite care of all kinds and People First give people with learning difficulties a voice and improved independent living opportunities.
All of the money raised will be equally divided between the two charities.
