Update on Cumbria Libraries services following end of lockdown period
Following a detailed assessment and taking into account the latest guidance from Government regarding the national tier system, Cumbria Libraries will continue to provide essential services after the current lockdown period ends on Wednesday 2 December.
Key services available including select and collect, online services and home delivery services. For digital access to services we are asking customers to book in advance for access to computers to ensure the best and safest service possible.
Book Browsing, borrowing and returns will be available in some locations - please check the council website for details of opening hours and available services at your local library. Other essential services can also be accessed at your library, including adult education courses and registrars.
Libraries offer a range of important services and opportunities to many people, and it is vital that we continue to provide essential services to support our residents’ health and wellbeing, as well as a local point of access to key services and support.
Cllr Deborah Earl, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Communities, said:
“Libraries are important community hubs that provide access to a wide variety of services, opportunities and information. Maintaining access to these services is crucial in supporting the health and wellbeing of our residents.
“A lot of work has been undertaken to ensure libraries provide a safe environment, and I’d like to thank the library staff behind the scenes for all their efforts and dedication. Please make sure you are familiar with all the new advice regarding libraries and please plan your visit in advance.
“Keeping everyone safe is our priority and we will continue to review provision across the county in accordance with national guidance.”
