£75,000 drainage repair works to commence on A683 near Middleton

Cumbria County Council’s highways team will begin essential drainage improvement works from Monday 27 September, lasting up to four weeks on the A683 at Station House, Middleton.  The works include the full replacement of a collapsed surface water culvert.

To facilitate the works safely, a full road closure will be required throughout - signed diversion routes will be in place. The works require excavation at depth across the full width of the carriageway, so it will not be possible to provide any form of access through the site during the programme of works. The road closure will be in operation 24 hours a day.

Regrettably it is inevitable that works of this nature may create some disturbance. The works are essential for drainage and for road safety.  We apologise for the inconvenience in advance but would ask for patience and co-operation whilst the works are in progress; every effort will be made to keep the disruption to a minimum.

If you have any particular concerns in advance of the works please do not hesitate to contact Cumbria Highways on 0300 303 2992, during normal working hours or alternatively e-mail highways@cumbria.gov.uk
