King Charles III has consented to the day of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s State Funeral (Monday 19 September) being a national Bank Holiday.
This will allow individuals, businesses and other organisations to pay their respects to Her Majesty and commemorate Her reign, while marking the final day of the period of national mourning.
In order for our staff to be able to take time to pay their respects to Her Majesty The Queen, Cumbria County Council will be providing a limited range of services as it would on any other Bank Holiday, the main exception being the closure of all Household Waste Recycling Centres for the day.
All services will reopen fully from Tuesday 20 September.
Books of Condolence are currently open in some of Cumbria’s libraries. The final day for the public to leave a message of condolence will be 20 September.
