In partnership with GetComposting.com, Cumbria County Council is offering discounted compost bins for residents this Spring - helping your garden thrive towards its healthiest year yet.
We might be in the middle of Winter, but with a bit of optimism you can reach out and almost touch the warmer months, so what better way to prepare your garden than to start composting?!
Composting has countless benefits, and Spring is the perfect time to get started! The process simply involves recycling your daily plant and food waste, along with any other organic materials you can find. This can include grass cuttings, unwanted plants, organic kitchen waste such as fruit and vegetable peelings, tea bags, coffee grounds and even the contents of your vacuum.
Together, these will naturally decompose over time in our specialised compost bins to produce a ready-made mixture, rich in nutrients to feed your soil and nourish your garden. It’s a great way to minimise waste in your household, which would otherwise go to landfills and contribute to polluting the atmosphere with harmful methane emissions.
To encourage residents to start composting, Cumbria County Council has partnered with GetComposting.com to offer Home Compost Bins at special discounted prices, starting from £8.50 with an additional Buy One Get One Half Price offer on all Blackwell Compost bins. This is the perfect opportunity to kickstart your composting journey and team up with a friend or neighbour to save some money too!
Councillor Celia Tibble, Cumbria County Council Cabinet Member for Environment, said:
“We want even more people to get involved in composting at home! The compost bin offers are a great incentive to encourage more residents to get composting - home composting organic waste not only helps reduce carbon emissions but is a good way to reduce the amount of waste sent for treatment.”
Home compost bins, together with a range of special offer water butts and additional accessories can be ordered via www.getcomposting.com, or through calling 0844 571 4444.
