Eden Local Committee's 0-19 fund supports more youth-focused projects across the district
This week Cumbria County Council’s Eden Local Committee funded three local projects from their 0 - 19 Fund.
The grants included £3,000 to Brough Parish Council to fund improvements to sports facilities; £5,000 to 32 Huntley Avenue Penrith Children's Home activities programme, and £1,250 to Eden Youth Council's project to enable more young people to participate in the work of the youth council.
The youth council project will include creating a video of the ‘Make Your Mark’ 2020 ballot (where young people decide the top issues facing them to be discussed by the national Youth Parliament), and training for young people in social media marketing.
Cllr Phil Dew, Chair of Eden Local Committee, said:
“It is really encouraging to see our 0 - 19 fund being used for projects with such a wide-reaching benefit for children and young people in Eden.
“We are really pleased to be able to support the new Children`s Home in Penrith, a valuable facility for children in Eden.
“We were also delighted to be able to support the work of Eden Youth Council and help their members reach out to more young people, enabling others to engage in local decision making.
“Our 0-19 grants are available for groups working with children and young people in the local community, the fund is open all year round and applications are considered from projects with a youth focus.”
