Free career events to showcase new apprenticeship opportunities

Cumbria County Council (CCC) is now recruiting to over 50 new apprenticeship vacancies across the county. There’s something for everyone with apprenticeships from Level 2 to degree level. To showcase what’s on offer through these fabulous opportunities the Apprenticeship Team are hosting a range of free drop-in events throughout Cumbria.

From application writing and interview tips, to advice on what an apprenticeship has to offer, the drop-in events will provide a quick and easy way to find out more for those considering the apprenticeship route.

The events started on 6 June and run for two weeks; a full timetable is available at cumbria.gov.uk/apprentice. As well as support and advice the events also provide the opportunity for potential apprentices, parents and carers to:

  • Talk to current apprentices about their experiences and what they enjoy about being an apprentice.
  • Meet the Apprenticeship Team and find out more about the current vacancies.
  • Discuss the options available and discover what the Council has to offer, such as employee perks and further training and development.

Earlier this year the CCC Apprenticeship Team launched their new website, now available at cumbria.gov.uk/apprentice. It includes case studies and a wealth of information and advice for those considering an apprenticeship.

CCC recruits dozens of new apprentices every year into a variety of different roles, including engineers, business administrators, project managers, accountants, firefighters and care workers. The award-winning Apprenticeship Team at CCC supports all applicants through the apprenticeship process, alongside their dedicated tutor.

Councillor Sue Sanderson, Cabinet Member for Schools and Learning, said:

“Apprenticeships offer a fantastic opportunity for people to earn while they learn and many of our apprentices go on to secure permanent employment and further training.

“Whether you’re leaving school and looking to start a new career or already in employment and looking to gain a degree equivalent qualification - we have something to suit everyone.

“An apprenticeship with CCC could open a door to a career you might not have thought of, and we'll support you to get there. Come along to our free events to find out more.”
