Four new ‘cost-of-living’ events have been announced by Cumbria County Council’s West Cumbria Community Development team. The Cost-of-Living and Better Health events, aimed at professionals and residents in West Cumbria, will highlight the advice and support available to help with the cost-of-living, as well as physical and mental health. The free events will be held across four different venues in Allerdale and Copeland with the first set to take place next week:
There’s no need to book and anyone hoping to attend is welcome to just drop into the event which suits them best. Several different support service providers will also be attending the events so attendees can speak to them directly. Tamsin Beattie, Community Development Officer with Cumbria County Council, said: “Now that they’re finally here, I’m really proud of the work we’ve done to bring this initiative to life, and I urge anyone living or working in West Cumbria to come along and find out more about the wide range of support available in your local area. Not just to help yourself, but also those you support and care about with the cost of living and better health. “The events are completely free and there’s no need to book. I know everyone who attends will learn something new and will leave feeling armed with the information and advice they need to get through these difficult times.” Deborah Earl, Cumbria’s Cabinet Member for Public Health and Community Services, said: “Of course I’d rather we didn’t need to host events such as this but in the current economic climate there’s a real need for them. “I hope as many people as possible can make it to the events but if you can’t, there’s a lot of useful information on the county council website to point people in the right direction if they need support with the cost of living. Please visit cumbria.gov.uk/costofliving to find out more.” For more information about the Cost of Living and Better Health events, please email Allerdale.Areasupport@cumbria.gov.uk. |
