Local Flood Risk Management Strategy consultation - have your say, only a few days left!

Cumbria County Council is reminding people that there is still time to provide comments on the proposals for the Local Flood Risk Management Strategy consultation.

The consultation remains open until Friday 30 September 2022.

The Strategy will set out how local flood risks will be managed in Cumbria, who will deliver them and how they will be funded, and the county council now need to finalise the Local Flood Risk Management (2022) Strategy and Action Plan, with input from the community.

This feedback will then feed into the Strategy revision and help finalise the Local Flood Risk

To provide feedback you can:

• Respond online

• Attend one of our public consultation drop-in sessions.

These drop-in events will help to provide an opportunity to feedback on the documentation.  This feedback will then feed into the Strategy revision and help finalise the Local Flood Risk Management Strategy going forward - the following public consultation have been re-arranged, due to national mourning for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

  • Copeland - Thursday 22 September - Whitehaven Library: 10.00am - 4.00pm
  • Carlisle - Friday 23 September - Carlisle Library: 10.00am - 4.00pm

Cllr Keith Little, Cumbria County Council Cabinet member for Highways and Transport, said:

“As Cumbria's Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA), the county council is responsible for managing local flooding, and is responsible for monitoring the Local Flood Risk Management Strategy, which outlines how local flood risks will be managed, who will manage flood risk, and how funding will be provided.

“By involving the public, we hope that the local communities can help to provide feedback on the Local Flood Risk Management Strategy documents. In this way, everything will be included, and the documents will be the best they can be.

“I would like to thank the residents, in advance, for their help and feedback with this survey”
