In celebration of Cumbria’s support of the Queen's Green Canopy (QGC) we would like to invite you to photograph retired Deputy Lieutenant, Mrs Olive Clarke OBE, planting a Damson Tree at her home on Tuesday 25 May at 11am.
Cumbria are actively supporting the Queen's Green Canopy (QGC), which launched on 17 May and encourages people across the UK to plant trees to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
Mrs Clarke who is an Honorary Vice President of the Cumbria-Westmorland Federation of Women’s Institutes and Life Vice President of the Cumbria Federation of Young Farmers, will plant the tree in honour of the Queen’s Jubilee and in support of this project.
The planting will take place at 11am on 25 May 2021 at Kaker Mill Farm, Preston Patrick, Milnthorpe, Cumbria, LA7 7NI.
Mrs Olive Clarke OBE, DL, JP, FRAgS said:
“I am so pleased to be part of this exciting new initiative. I am particularly happy to plant a beautiful Damson Tree, sourced from the Lyth Valley, for this occasion.
“Although tree planting season begins in October, the tree that I’m planting will survive with my care and encouragement. They are going to add it to the interactive map on the new QGC website in October.
“Anyone planting a tree in advance of the autumn planting season can use QGC’s helpful plan to make sure that your tree will flourish.”
