Remedial works to take place on Eastern Way, Carlisle

Cumbria County Council is informing residents and businesses in Harraby, Carlisle that some remedial work will be taking place on Eastern Way.

The work will take place on Thursday 27 October, for one night only, between 7pm and 2am, between Brunel Way & Arnside Road.

To carry out these works safely, it will be necessary to implement a temporary road closure of Eastern Way, as well as the junctions of Brunel Way and Arnside Road.  The diversion routes for the evening of 27 October from 7pm, will be as follows:

  • Eastern Way - diversion via Eastern Way, London Road / Botchergate, The Crescent, Lowther Street, Victoria Place, Warwick Road
  • Arnside Road - diversion via Arnside Road, Edgehill Road, Cumwhinton Road, London Road
  • Brunel Way - diversion via Brunel Way, Stephenson Road, Locke Road.

Cumbria County Council recognises these restrictions will cause some local disruption, but these important works are necessary to ensure the safety of local residents and all road users. Access for emergency vehicles will be permitted through the closure points during the works.

Cllr Keith Little, Cumbria County Council Cabinet member for Highways and Transport, said:

“We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience these road works or closures may cause. We thank the local businesses as well as the residents of Harraby for their understanding and support.

“Our goal is to complete this work in one night, minimising as much disruption as possible, for the local community."

For enquiries, please contact Cumbria Highways on 0300 303 2992.
