Local residents, businesses and users of the A595 are being reminded to have their say on the latest proposals to improve the A595 within the vicinity of Bothel, before the consultation ends on Monday 24 May.
Cumbria County Council launched a public consultation in April to seek people’s views on the A595 Bothel Strategic Improvement scheme, ahead of submitting a planning application this summer.
This fourth and final consultation includes all proposed improvements under the A595 Bothel Strategic Improvement scheme, which extends over 5km from Cock Bridge to the Threapland Junction.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions it has not been possible to facilitate face-to-face meetings during this consultation. Instead, three virtual meetings have been held for local residents, commuters and other users of the A595 during the last three weeks, where feedback was gathered on the proposed improvements. An online survey is available here and will be open until the consultation ends on Monday 24 May.
Full details on the proposals, as well as videos demonstrating the details of the scheme, can be found on the project website, as well as a link to the online survey. Please read the details of the proposed improvements before completing the survey.
All of the feedback received will be reviewed before the final planning application is submitted.
Cllr Keith Little, Cumbria County Council Cabinet member for Highways and Transport, said:
“The proposed improvements to the A595 here are really important. They will not only improve journey times and help boost the county’s economy but also create a safer and more resilient road network. This is the fourth time that the county council has sought views from local people and at each stage proposals have been tweaked and changed based on this feedback.
“I’d strongly encourage people to take the time to get involved, read the consultation documents, watch the videos and look at all the information on the project website to give us your feedback - it’s important that local people have their say, so we can develop the best possible scheme.”
