Over the course of March over 50 Cumbria County Council (CCC) apprenticeship vacancies will be advertised, and to celebrate apprentices are taking over the Council’s main social media channels on Monday 14 March.
The takeover day will be led by members of the Cumbria Apprenticeship Ambassador Network (CAAN). The CAAN is a group of ambitious current and former apprentices who have chosen to register as representatives; they help to promote apprenticeships and inspire the next generation.
During the takeover day on 14 March the apprentices will control the main CCC Facebook (with 31k followers), Twitter (27k followers) and Instagram (3k followers) accounts. They’ll be sharing lots of new and creative content, including success stories and case studies. They’ll also host a live online Q&A for anyone wanting to know more about CCC apprenticeships.
Throughout March there will be apprenticeship opportunities available in a variety of different roles, including civil engineering, highways maintenance, business administration, project management, care and customer service. Applicants have until midnight on 27 March to apply.
The CCC Apprenticeship Team recently launched their brand-new website, now available at cumbria.gov.uk/apprentice. It includes a wealth of information and advice for those considering an apprenticeship.
Councillor Sue Sanderson, Cabinet Member for Schools and Learning, said:
“Apprenticeships offer a fantastic opportunity for people to earn while they learn and many of our apprentices go on to secure permanent employment and further training.
“We’ll have a vast range of opportunities available throughout March. Whether you’re leaving school and looking to start a new career or already in employment and looking to gain a degree equivalent qualification - we have something to suit everyone.”
Jack Tebbs, Trainee Project Lead & CAAN Co-Chair, Cumbria County Council, said:
“Doing an apprenticeship with Cumbria County Council was a great choice for me. I started a Level 4 Project Management apprenticeship in 2018 and I’ve now secured permanent employment. The support I’ve received throughout my journey has been incredibly valuable and has given me the confidence to continue to progress in my career.
“The takeover day and live Q&A will give apprentices a great opportunity to share stories and experiences, and hopefully we’ll inspire more young people to choose the apprenticeship route into a new career.”
