The multi-agency response to storm Arwen continues as the county recovers from the adverse weather and continued power outage in some parts of Cumbria
Around 6,500 properties continue to be without power, with Electricity North West mobilising teams around the clock to repair the network and restore power. Because the damage is so widespread, it means some properties may be without power for a few more days.
The news comes as the Environment Agency are set to announce Flood Alerts in several parts of the county, and a more serious Flood Warning for the Ulverston area.
As a result, the public are being urged to contact www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it or call 101 if they have concerns about their own safety and well-being, or the safety and well-being of someone they know. If there is an immediate risk to life people should call 999.
Agencies are also proactively cross-checking known vulnerable individuals (based on information from Electricity North West, local councils and NHS organisations) against properties affected by power cuts and are prioritising these for direct contact, either by phone or face to face visits from staff on the ground.
In addition, the public are requested to continue to check on neighbours and people in their communities who may be vulnerable.
