The respite centre in Ulverston’s Coronation Hall will remain open overnight for anyone unable to remain in their own home due to continued power outages in the area caused by Storm Arwen.
The respite centre will provide basic facilities to support any local people in urgent need.
Operational Coordination Groups have been established at Alston, Grange-over-Sands and Ulverston fire stations and are now managing the local on-the-ground response to ensuring the welfare of local people. This includes face to face visits to people identified as vulnerable by local agencies and Electricity North West.
The public are reminded they should contact www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it or call 101 if they have concerns about their own safety and well-being, or the safety and well-being of someone they know. If there is an immediate risk to life people should call 999.
Electricity North West continue to work to reconnect properties around the county, with around 1000 reconnections achieved today and more expected tomorrow.
Further updates will be provided tomorrow.
