Works set to start on new Community Hub for Aspatria
The new hub will bring together the town’s library and Children’s Centre under one roof in a fit-for-purpose, modernised building.
Plans were approved last year and include the renovation and extension of the Aspatria Library building on Market Square.
Works are set to commence on Monday (27 March 2023) and complete in autumn. A temporary library service is currently being provided from the Children’s Centre on Kings Street. The temporary offer includes select and collect, printing and online access.
The new hub will create a fresh and modern library space, providing access to a wide range of library services and a fantastic new Children’s Library. The project also comprises an excellent new Children’s Centre for young people and their carers, with a light and airy playroom, a ‘messy play’ area, and a great new enclosed outdoor play area. Those visiting the Children’s Centre will be able to enjoy the facilities on offer from the library, particularly benefiting from access to the wonderful new Children’s Library.
The hub will also create a new facility for partner organisations through a multipurpose room providing a refurbished shared space for the delivery of Adult Learning courses, Health and Wellbeing sessions and much more.
This project has been supported by Cumbria County Council Allerdale Local Committee. Roland Hill will carry out the works.
