The Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) has secured a transformational philanthropic gift from the Benny Walker Charitable Trust to roll out its award-winning music education programme RNCM Engage for school aged young people in Cumbria, with a focus on Allerdale and Copeland.

School 180, Carlisle's new Alternative Provision school in Harraby, has opened its doors to pupils following completion of its £3m build.

More than 96% of pupils have been offered their first choice secondary school for this September, figures released today confirm - up from 94% last year. Parents and carers have been informed.
